Belveron Partners, LLC is a privately held investment firm with a focus on preserving affordable and workforce housing across the United States with office in San Francisco, Boston, and New York. Our double-bottom-lined investment process has yielded positive results for our investors and communities we serve.

Founded in 2006, Belveron and its affiliates have invested in more than 200 properties in 32 states, representing more than 25,000 affordable homes. Our capital investments have provided meaningful liquidity to thousands of limited and general partners in concert with our preservationist goals.

Leadership

Paul Odland

Founder & Managing Partner
  

As Managing Partner, Mr. Odland provides executive leadership and direction to the firm, ultimately answering to our investors. Paul is involved in all strategic decision-making, including raising equity investment capital, sourcing investment transactions, and making investment decisions. Prior to forming Belveron Partners, he was the President and CEO of Concierge Asset Management, along with previous experience at Bridge Partners. Mr. Odland holds a BBA from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, and has completed real estate continuing education at Harvard University.

Operations

Michael Pence

Chief Operating Officer
 

Mr. Pence has direct oversight for the Asset Management, Portfolio Management, and Finance teams. He plays a key role in evaluating investment opportunities, optimizing operating partnerships, ensuring the execution of the business plans for each investment and running day to day operations of the company. Over the prior 13 years, he honed his multifamily skills with Carmel Partners where he led the West Coast Investments team (acquisitions, dispositions, portfolio management).  Prior to Carmel, Michael spent the first 13 years of his career helping tech start-ups create sustainable operating businesses. He holds a BA from Dartmouth College and majored in Psychology.

Tony Verdon

Chief Financial Officer
 

Mr. Verdon is Chief Financial Officer and oversees finance and accounting functions as well as legal entity formation and structure and facilitating debt and equity capital transactions. Prior to joining Belveron, Tony was a Portfolio Manager at Clairvue Capital Partners where he was responsible for a portfolio of debt and equity investments in real estate. Prior to joining Clairvue, he held Controller and Vice President positions with various real estate private equity firms. He began his career in KPMG’s audit practice where he focused on construction and real estate clients and is a licensed CPA (inactive). Tony holds dual undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from St. Mary’s College of California, and an MBA from Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He spends the weekends in the outdoors trail running.

Samantha Watson

Chief Compliance Officer & Portfolio Manager
 

Ms. Watson is involved in all aspects of acquisitions, leveraging her deep experience in affordable housing to shepherd transactions to closing. She assists in the development and implementation of investment strategies including cultivating limited partnership relationships, obtaining partnership transfers, and conducting partnership diligence at the local, state and federal level. Prior to joining Belveron, Samantha was Fiscal and Corporate Manager at Hearthstone Housing Foundation, where she oversaw a portfolio of 27,000 affordable housing units. Previously, Samantha worked for nine years as a tax accountant at Boggeln & Company. Samantha received a BS in Accounting from Colorado State University.

Grant Sisler

Senior Portfolio Manager
 

Mr. Sisler supports Belveron’s investment strategies by focusing on the disposition and refinancing of assets throughout the firm’s portfolio. Prior to joining Belveron Partners, Grant served as the Acquisition Manager for Concierge Asset Management, where he was involved in the underwriting, acquisition, and rehabilitation of partnership investments. Prior to Concierge, Grant worked at Goldman Sachs as an analyst in Private Wealth Management and holds a degree in Economics and Spanish from Duke University, where he completed a certificate program in Markets and Management. In his free time, Grant is an avid outdoor runner.

Acquisitions

Josh Plattner

Managing Director, Investments
 

Mr. Plattner leads the acquisitions team and is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and executing investments in affordable and workforce housing. Prior to joining Belveron, Josh served as the Director of Acquisitions for Jonathan Rose Companies, where he was responsible for leading the execution of over $1 billion in affordable housing investments. He also has community and urban development experience in Latin America and has traveled to all seven continents. Josh holds master’s degrees in Planning and Real Estate development from the University of Southern California and received a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan.

Matt Kauffmann

Investment Analyst
 

Mr. Kauffmann underwrites prospective investments and provides analytical support to the firm’s investment decision making process. Matt began his real estate career as an intern at Belveron. Additional real estate experience includes interning at Eastdil Secured and working as an analyst at Enterprise Community Partners. Matt was inspired to work in affordable housing after serving homeless and low-income individuals in a variety of roles at non-profits in California and North Carolina. Matt received an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a BA in Philosophy from UNC Chapel Hill.

Ben Bacharach

Investment Analyst
 

Mr. Bacharach underwrites prospective acquisitions and provides analytical support to the firm’s investment making decision process.  Ben previously worked as an acquisitions analyst at Aulder Capital, specializing in multifamily and mixed-use investments and helped develop the firm’s socially responsible investment strategy.  Prior to Aulder Capital, Ben interned for PJT Partners in its Park Hill Real Estate Group, focusing on capital raising and asset advisory. Ben received a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.

Brett Grayson

Analyst
 

Mr. Grayson supports both the asset management and acquisitions teams at Belveron, analyzing current investment opportunities and aiding in day-to-day portfolio management. Before joining Belveron, Brett worked in the nonprofit world for 10 years, most recently as a director for a youth development academy. Brett was drawn to work in affordable housing from having grown up in a community where he saw the impact of affordable housing on people’s lives. Brett has a passion for bowhunting, golf and coaching baseball.

Asset Management

Bianca Vanin

Head of Asset Management
 

Mrs. Vanin oversees Belveron’s diverse portfolio of real estate. Prior to joining Belveron, Bianca was a Director of Asset & Portfolio Management at L+M Development Partners where she provided financial and operational oversight for a portfolio of market rate and affordable housing assets in New York, New Jersey and California. Prior to L+M, she worked as a Senior Asset Manager within the workouts team at Enterprise Community Partners. Bianca received an MBA from the Darden School of Business at UVA, and an Honors Degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.

Amy Johnson

Asset Management, Risk Management and Special Projects
 

Ms. Johnson manages a portfolio of individual real estate assets for Belveron with a special focus on complex rehabilitation and construction projects. Amy’s work combines design, construction management, engineering and strategic vision to deliver value for portfolio investments. She also oversees Belveron’s master property insurance program. Amy received a BA in Economics from Wake Forest University and an MA in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver. In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, and is a competitive pickleball player.

Sanam Humayun

Assest Management
 

Ms. Humayun manages a portfolio of individual real estate assets for Belveron.  Before joining Belveron, Sanam worked at WhyHotel, where she handled acquisitions. Prior to WhyHotel, she was at Berkeley Partners where she managed assets and portfolios across various funds and markets. Prior to Berkeley Partners, she analyzed real estate markets and trends at Real Capital Analytics. Sanam received a MSc in Real Estate Finance and Development from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and a BSc in Economics/Mathematics from Lahore University of Management Sciences. Outside of work, Sanam is the president of her alma mater’s Bay Area chapter and enjoys time with her family.

David Kim

Asset Management
 

Mr. Kim manages a portfolio of individual real estate assets for Belveron.  After attending San Francisco State University for Social Work, David opened San Francisco’s largest family shelter and established a permanent supportive housing program. Seeking a permanent solution to homelessness, David spent ten years as a Regional Manager for affordable housing development companies. Mission focused, David takes great pride in revitalizing affordable workforce communities and nurtures relationships with Belveron’s operating partners. David has a passion for his children, mountaineering and basketball. In 2018, he finished his segment hike of the John Muir Trail and Ironman Barcelona.

Finance

Patrick Flaherty

Finance and Compliance Manager
 

Mr. Flaherty is a member of the finance team and manages the intersection of finance, compliance, operations and technology.  Prior to joining Belveron, Patrick worked in the insurance and accounting industries managing product, sales and technology teams. Outside the office, Patrick is very active in civic and community organizations. He has served on various Committees and Boards representing industry, government and community organizations focused on public safety and services for underserved communities. Patrick received a BS in both Business Administration and Urban Studies from Elmhurst College. He lives in San Francisco and enjoys long-distance cycling and trail running.

Ryan Saroya

Portfolio Controller
 

Mr. Saroya oversees accounting and financial reporting for Belveron’s portfolio of real estate investments. Prior to joining Belveron, Ryan was Assistant Controller at Vanbarton Group in New York City. Previously, Ryan worked as an accountant at AIG Global Real Estate after beginning his career in Deloitte’s audit practice. Ryan graduated from Syracuse University, receiving a BS in Accounting and Finance and an MS in Accounting. He is a licensed CPA. A native of New Jersey, Ryan currently resides in Oakland.  In his free time, Ryan can be found at a boxing gym practicing Muay Thai.
