Mercantile Wharf
Located in the historic North End neighborhood, Mercantile Wharf is mixed-income community that was at-risk of losing its long-term affordability due to the expiration of the property’s subsidy. Working collaboratively with residents of the building, Belveron and its partner entered into a landmark preservation agreement with the City of Boston to ensure the property remains affordable for at least the next 20 years.
Belveron’s investment helped secure a new Project-Based Section 8 contract for 48 very low-income households and state rental assistance for residents with incomes between 50% and 80% AMI. Together, these new agreements protect current and future residents as well as one of the North’s End only sources of affordable housing.
